Zach Herfindahl put another jewel in his modern-era King of Pine Lake crown, claiming his third Gerald Dyrdahl Memorial Pro 600 win. You can just about pencil in Herfindahl’s Christian Brothers Racing ZR 6000 as a top podium finisher any time the United States Cross Country series lines up on a lake, but Taylor Bunke was carrying a Sharpie of his own and nearly used it to sign the $10,000 check.
Bunke held the lead in the premier class final on his Polaris XCR until making his pit stop at which time Herfindahl took over the point. The race leaders exchanged positions several times throughout the race with Herfindahl crossing the stripe with a four second advantage after nearly one and a half hours of racing in sub-zero temps. Gabe Bunke finished third just another three seconds back, marking the first time a father-son duo has ever finished on the podium together at Pine Lake.
Wes Selby collected yet another Pro Open win, his fourth, with a dominating 14 second advantage. Selby was clocked at 116 on his Cat modster en route to a podium that was rounded out by Polaris racers Ryan Faust and Andy Wenzlaff.
