Rough Outing In Iowa For Thene Racers
Elias Ishoel Still On Top Of Pro Standings
Clear Lake, MN (January 17, 2022) – After dominating the opening weekend of ISOC national snocross, Elias Ishoel found rounds 3 & 4 in Dubuque, Iowa to be a bit more frustrating. In fact, it was that sort of weekend for the entire team who battled near the top 5 on several occasions but couldn’t find the racing luck to string together two solid days.
Ishoel was in contention for top five finishes on both nights, however, a couple of racing incidents derailed his charge. On Friday he was caught behind a rider who’s sled had turned over and had to wait for the machine to get righted before he could rejoin the pack. On Saturday, Elias had a much better start in the main event and was challenging for second place when the rider in front of him clipped his ski, throwing him from his sled.As a result, Elias ended up ninth and twelfth respectively, but still leads the class championship by six points.
Elias Ishoel –
“That was my worst weekend of racing in my whole career. The track was fast and wide open, almost like last weekend, but I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I’m healthy and it’s just so fun racing with these guys, the class is so tight this year.”
Andy Pake equalled his best result of the season when he finished sixth on Friday night. Andy also qualified well throughout the weekend adding to a point total that put him within the top 10. Unfortunately, a crash in Saturday’s final resulted in a broken collar bone which will force Pake to sit out the next couple of rounds.
Marcus Ogemar also equalled his best finish of the season on Saturday night with a fifth in Pro Lite. Marcus raced his way into Friday’s final by way of the last chance qualifier but had to battle poor visibility from his back row starting position to finish 15th.
The team will have one weekend off in preparation for a much different venue when the series travels to the bull ring in historic Deadwood, South Dakota on January 28-29.
