Aurora, Minn. (November 6, 2017) – The Scheuring Speed Sports team recently kicked off the 2017-18 snocross season with visits to high schools in Ladysmith, Wisconsin and Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Each season the team makes stops at area high schools and post-secondary schools to interact with students in the industrial trades, demonstrating the rapidly advancing technology utilized in the pits and on the racetrack and how it closely relates to that of team sponsor United States Air Force.
With the addition of a Pro Mod UTV program over the summer, students now get a chance to see and learn about multiple racing disciplines and how the team’s Ski-Doo Snowmobiles and Can-Am UTVs differ from what they might see at a dealership. During the stops, team owner Steve Scheuring explains what life is like working for a professional race team, pointing out even more parallels with the Air Force in which team members spend long hours working and living with each other in demanding conditions requiring a positive attitude and dedication to a common goal.
At the conclusion of each school stop, the team awards a $200 Race To The Future Scholarship on behalf of the U.S. Air Force, recognizing a student or program selected by instructors for their aptitude or significance to the study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The team will be making one additional stop at the Two Harbors High School prior to the opening round of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross tour in Duluth, Minnesota on November 24-26.
