Hay Days, the unofficial start to winter is officially over and as has become custom at the fall spectacle, the unveiling of the model year 2018 race sleds was the main attraction for spectators and racers alike. Ski-Doo opened the festivities on Saturday morning with their new MXZx 600 RS that is all new from the ground up. The machine is based on the company’s Gen 4 platform and features E-Tec direct injection, similar to the proven system that has been utilized on their 850 consumer lineup.
Polaris went about their reveal in relatively stealth fashion and while this is the second year for the “new look” AXYS 600R, there were a number of subtle but significant changes to the sled. The biggest item of note is an upgrade to Walker Evans Velocity shocks on the skis, along with redesigned A-arms that create more front end clearance in the big bumps.
Arctic Cat’s new 6000RR racer also features a number of revisions topped by a weight reduction of 20 pounds, part of which is contributed to a sleeker headlight pod that includes a down-sized headlight that is similar in appearance to the brand’s new 200cc racer.
We will be posting full reviews, specs and photo spreads of all three new releases in the next 24 hours.
