The number of competitors in the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Pro class is back on the rise with Cottew Motorsports’ Cole Cottew becoming the latest rider to move into the elite ranks. Cottew, who has won main events in the Sport and Pro Lite divisions, was recently signed by Polaris to race the Pro class in 2019-20, further bolstering the brand’s presence in the field.
For the young racer based out of Princeton, Minnesota, it means a challenge and opportunity to fully capitalize on the natural ability he has shown in his amateur career. Cottew’s care-free approach and stylish demeanor on a sled draw many comparisons to his good pal Kody Kamm. However, Cottew missed nearly all of last season with a knee injury and will have to bring his A game and improve his overall consistency to maintain those comparisons.
“I am more motivated right now than I have ever been,” said Cottew. I know in the Pro class you have to be on it every lap and battle for every position. I think in the past if I didn’t get a great start or was behind someone I knew I was faster than but was kind of getting held up on a one line track, I would just settle. I know now that I am going to have to learn from these guys how to make those passes no matter what.”
“I’m going into this wanting to be competitive every time I’m on the track and shooting for a couple top fives by the end of the season. Maybe even sneak onto the podium.”
