KR4 ARRIVE-N-RIDE RECAP – 2017 ISDE

BRIVE, France (September 4, 2017) – The 92nd running of the FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) came to a conclusion on Saturday, September 2 in Brive, France. Riders were put to the test, racing for six straight days in various weather and track conditions, pushing not only themselves, but also their machines to the limit. However in the end, two Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Arrive-in-Ride team members found success and will be heading home with some hardware after their impressive performances.

Tayla Jones made the decision to compete in her first ISDE six years ago, and headed into this year’s event eager to defend the Australian Women’s Trophy Team past four wins – all of which she was a part of.

Spain jumped out to the early lead on day one, with Tayla and the rest of the Australian team in second. The girls carried the momentum into the second day and took over the lead, and Tayla continued to set the standard with the day overall. Tayla battled back-and-forth with Spain’s top female, Lala Sanz, for the overall each day and topped the charts once again on day four.

Tayla may have had to settle for second overall by a mere minute and a half, but her impressive individual scores, paired with her teammates’, vaulted them to the top of the team standings where the scored their fifth-straight victory.

“Five in a row – it’s still pretty unbelievable,” said Tayla. “I’d just like to give a shout out to my teammates, Jemma and Jessica, there is no ‘I’ in team, and we just knew how to make it work. It has been a huge six days and we wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of the whole team.”

The U.S. Junior World Trophy team demonstrated that consistency is key after starting the event in fourth. As the week progressed, so did their results where Grant Baylor steadily worked his way past riders and anchored the team’s success to win on day two. On day three, Grant and his teammates settled into pace taking third throughout the remainder of the week to score third overall in what can be referred to as the “Olympics” of off-road racing.

“This years ISDE had its ups and downs for me and for the team, it started out really well with the team leading after day two but then on day three it started going downhill with Toth having time keeping issues witch led to a minute penalty but we kept pushing forward,” reported Grant. “On day five test one I somehow dislocated my shoulder without even going down so I pulled to the side put it back in place and went on to have my best day of the week, so all in all it was a decent week with the team landing on the box in third.”
