Judnick Motorsports has signed 2017 AMSOIL Championship Snocross Pro Lite runner-up Jake Angove to ride the team’s Jack Link’s/Axalta/Polaris Pro Open race sled in 2017-18.
“Jake has continued to surprise us with his effort and results since joining the team as a Pro Lite rider in 2015,” said team owner Scott Judnick. “He’s done everything we’ve asked of him, including improving on his fitness and consistency from 2016 to 2017. We had a number of established Pro Open riders inquire about the seat that was made available when Ross Martin announced his retirement at Lake Geneva, but the team, and Polaris, felt Jake earned this opportunity and that we owed him the chance to continue to prove himself.”
“It still hasn’t sunk in and I’m going to do all I can to take full advantage of this opportunity,” said Angove. The team took a bit of a risk giving me a chance during the 2015-16 season but they know my heart is in it and that I will always put the work in and that’s what has gotten me the Pro Open ride. I know the team will always give it their all to help me be successful. It’s an honor to be put in this spot and I know the step up to Pro Open won’t be easy but I’m confident I will do well.”
Veteran mechanic Tony Swiontek has been promoted to crew chief with the team and will take on an expanded role, but will continue to work with Angove and the Pro Open sled during the week.
Pro Lite rider Nick Lorenz will return for his second season with the team and continue to work with mechanic Mike Bauer as they look to improve on Lorenz’s impressive rookie year in which he placed third in the championship.
