Duluth, MN (December 12, 2017) – Sport class contender Carson Alread improved his qualifying efforts at rounds three and four as the AMSOIL Championship Snocross tour made its first-ever stop in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Alread finished 2-4 in Friday qualifying and then backed it up with two first place finishes on Saturday to earn the first gate pick in the main event. Alread started the main event running tenth on Friday and moved forward late in the race, including a last lap pass to finish eighth.
On Saturday Alread was racing in the fifth spot and challenging the third and fourth place riders. Halfway through the seven lap final the rider in front of him crashed entering the left hand turn at the bottom of the Snow King Mountain ski hill, leaving Carson no where to go and collecting him in the crash.
Unfortunately, crashes also played a larger role in Jake Angove’s weekend as he continued to develop in his first year in the elite Pro class. Angove, who has shown the speed to run in the top third of the class is still struggling to maintain the pace for a full 20 plus lap main event. “I know I have the speed,” said Angove. But it has been a bigger jump than I thought it would be. I’m just not used to getting passed this much and I have to learn to keep my focus and just concentrate on my race. You have to keep a high pace every lap.”
Angove had been running as high as sixth place in Saturday’s main event before coming off his sled on the treacherous downhill section. The upcoming rounds at Canterbury Park have treated Angove well in recent years and he is looking forward to putting in a full weekend with consistent results.
Next up is the Canterbury Park snocross in Shakopee, Minnesota.
