With one weekend and two rounds of racing in the books the Pro class may be heading into the next event with more questions than answers. One thing is for certain and that’s that Elias Ishoel proved to be every bit as dominant with his new team, Thene Motorsports, as he was during his past three Championship seasons.
It’s hard to go against the points standings after such a small sample size, one bad heat or poor start in the heavy snow dust that plagued much of Friday’s racing, could skew an otherwise strong outing. Ishoel and Emil Harr are stone cold locks but we have Hunter Patenaude at number three based on his performance up to his crash in Saturday’s final, including a couple of head-to-head battles with Ishoel.
Kody Kamm looked aggressive and hungry all weekend, while Kyle Pallin was very consistent. Adam Peterson had a great rookie outing in the class and could make a big jump if he backs up his performance in Iowa. Aki Pihlaja and Cole Cottew, could just as easily been scored a notch or two higher while we have Oskar Norum and Logan Christian rounding out the field based on some bad luck early in the weekend that may have diluted their true potential.
Francis Pelletier and Dan Benham should figure into the mix as the season progresses and the real unkown is Lincoln Lemieux, who did not look bad in his first outing with his one One Three Motorsports team, but unrest among his crew could extend the timeline for him to become a bigger threat.
