This past week we spent our time up north on site meeting with all of our great venues and clubs that support the series, across the board everyone is excited for the 20/21 Cor PowerSports Race Series season.
Our goal for this season is to try and keep as much of what both series have been doing the last 8 years the same, as you can see from the above schedule we have taken the events that were successful from the past seasons and combined them into one national level series.
The race season will start out as it has for many years at the Gerald Dyrdahl Memorial on Pine Lake, Jan 9/10 venue we hope to secure next week but it will be a venue with a great history of xc racing so they are excited for the opportunity to bring the series back, then remaining schedule is same as past few seasons until the spring events. Cor PowerSports has been running extremely successful spring events under the Midwest Extreme Snowmobile Challenge branding and now these events will be part of the national schedule. For those that have not attended one of these events here is a brief glimpse of what those weekends (MESC Format) looks like:
Saturday
Hillcross and Hillclimb raci
- Hillcross: multiple heat races to qualify for the main events for each class over a man made uphill course with features (jumps & whoops)
- Hillclimb: uphill race through a challenging slalom course, timed event which you compete against the clock. These events have been a Midwest qualifier the past 5 years for the Jackson Hole World Championship Hillclimbs
Sunday
Cross Country
- Cross country at MESC events is typically a timed event just as any traditional cross country race with the course normally is 3-5 miles in length
The two MESC format races will be Big Powderhorn Mountain in Bessemer, MI and Giants Ridge Resort in Biwabik, MN.
As you can see we have been working hard this summer on the blending of the two existing series into one true national cross country race series for the 20/21 race season.
