Last summer, Tom Rager Jr. and the crew at Polaris Racing in Wausau, Wisconsin were faced with the daunting task of relocating their entire operation. Fortunately, the landlord who was asking them to move in order to make space for his own business interests, also recognized the value and cache of having a stable, long-term renter such as Polaris and offered to build them a new space starting from a blank sheet of paper.
While the timeline was a bit of a challenge, Rager, Ben Hayes and parts guy Brad Seavers went to work laying out what would ultimately be a first class race shop that accommodates three of the brand’s elite snocross teams, along with the race support semi, Soo-I-500 development program, a complete fab shop, R & D sleds, parts storage and offices.
We had a chance to stop by the shop earlier this week and it is quite impressive, to say the least. Spacious, well-lit and located in close proximity to I-39, the building is positioned and equipped to keep Polaris at the leading edge of race technology well into the future.
