Just as we have seen over the years, the annual tour stop in Deadwood, South Dakota can be the great equalizer, sometimes killing a hot rider’s momentum in the series, while other times propelling a rider on a fresh start.
Kody Kamm opened the weekend back on the top of the box and followed it up with a fourth on Saturday to move to the top of the who’s hot list. Elias Ishoel admitted round five may have been the worse race of his career, while former number one Hunter Patenaude was steady but not as sharp as we would have expected coming off a weekend sweep in Minnesota.
Adam Peterson showed up big time in Deadwood and along with Saturday race winner Emil Harr, is still well in the title chase as we approach the mid-season point. Daniel Benham climbed back on the podium despite feeling under the weather all weekend and is a rider that has potential to go on a run as the series goes east in a couple weeks.
